The Indian Symposium on Offshore Geotechnics (ISOG) is a flagship event of ISSMGE TC209, supported by Indian Geotechnical Society. The first symposium in the series was held at IIT Bhubaneshwar in 2019, and the second was hosted at IIT Madras in 2022. The responsibility of hosting ISOG 2024 is entrusted to NITK Surathkal jointly with IGS Surathkal & Bangalore Chapters. ISOG 2024 aims to explore the diverse dimensions of offshore geotechnics. It encourages knowledge exchange within offshore and geotechnical communities, fostering an integrative and innovative approach.
Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) is a prestigious professional body committed to advancing and promoting Geotechnical Engineering in India. Over the years, the IGS has expanded its influence to become one of the most renowned and respected organizations in the field of Geotechnical Engineering in India. The IGS has a vast network of Local and Student Chapters nationwide, IGS collaborates with numerous national and international organizations and institutions to foster knowledge and exchange ideas in Geotechnical Engineering.
Karnataka National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, is a leading technical Institute of National Importance and a center of research excellence in India. it is located amid 300 acres of sylvan surroundings on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west. The institute has 14 departments and 11 centers with 275 faculty members, 300 support staff, and 6,500 students.
Technical Committee 209 (TC209) is part of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE). The role of TC209 is to encourage best practice by geotechnical engineers working in the offshore sector, which includes both conventional and new energy projects. This is achieved through active support to conferences and symposia in the field, the preparation and dissemination of guidelines and recommendations, and active networking. TC209 also awards the McClelland Lecture, which is an ISSMGE Honour Lecture.
